TAXI MAN IS SACKED BY TEXT
A TAXI firm worker was sacked by text message as he lay ill in bed.
William Forrester, 21, was told 'Don't bother coming back in' in a terse, five-word text from boss Val Livingstone.
William had completed an eight-hour shift at Station Taxis in Bearsden, near Glasgow last Saturday morning.
He was due to start another shift at midnight but phoned in at 7pm after going down with a heavy cold.
William, of Blairdardie, Glasgow, who earned £5-an-hour as a controller, said: 'Since I joined Station Taxis last October I have only had one day off and that was due to exhaustion from the long unsocial hours.'
Val Livingstone reacted to news that the government had moved to outlaw sacking by text saying: 'I'll worry about that when it happens.'
