HEADLINE: Killer's bid for compo

BYLINE: by JERRY LAWTON

A KILLER is suing for the "trauma" he suffered after his release from jail was delayed - for three days.

Shiraj Miah, 37, served half of a two-year term after his dangerous driving caused the death of shopkeeper Ed Carr, 41.

But the Newcastle taxi driver, who was cleared earlier this year of raping a dwarf, is demanding compensation.

His release was held up while officials checked if he was an illegal immigrant. Lawyers say the Bangladesh-born British passport holder could claim GBP 20,000. A Carr family friend fumed: "It's a disgrace. Villains get treated better than victims."

Let him sue, and if the scumbag gets some money, then give it to his victim.

I have to say that there is a real cause for concern that such huge sums of money get paid in compensation to convicted killers when the victims get much less via the criminal injuries compensation scheme.
