Herald Express (Torquay) August 19, 2006 Saturday HEADLINE: Builder fined after pushing friend Building worker Ryan Hare shoved an old school pal across a Totnes pavement and into the side of a parked taxi causing more than £100 damage to the car, a court heard. The 22-year-old Torquay man claimed he was just trying to get the "friend" out of his face and didn't even realise the taxi was in the way. But Hare, who had previous convictions for criminal damage, told police afterwards: "It's Totnes innit. Every time I go into Totnes I do something stupid." After a two hour hearing, magistrates decided that Hare had been reckless when he pushed the other man into the car and found him guilty of causing criminal damage. They fined him £100, ordered him to pay £100 towards the cost of the damage along with £165 in court costs. Hare, of Warbro Road, Torquay, had denied causing the criminal damage on The Plains in Totnes on March 24. Taxi driver Martin Relland said it had been at 11.20pm when he saw Hare grab another man and push him 10 feet across the pavement outside the King Rooster takeaway shop and into his Mitsubishi Space Wagon causing a crease and a bulge in the door. He said he had confronted Hare afterwards who had first told him there was no damage to the vehicle and then said: "It's only a car anyway." When he was interviewed by police, Hare said he had been "messing about" with an old friend and asked why he had pushed him into the car he said: "I haven't got a clue really." Hare told magistrates he had known the other man, Martin Elliott, since they were four years old and they had gone to primary school together. He said they had met at the entrance to the takeaway food shop and that Mr Elliott had been "drunk". He added: "He was right in my face. I pushed him to get him out of my face. I didn't mean to push him on to the floor and I wasn't thinking about the taxi." After he was found guilty, crown prosecutor Ayse Vahib told magistrates that Hare had previous convictions for criminal damage the last of which was in October last year when he was sentenced to carry out 40 hours community work which had been extended by an extra five hours after he breached the order. ..................................................................... |

A couple of years ago night club bouncers threw a punter they were ejecting into the side of my vehicle but in my case the police made sure that i could do nothing about it except pay for the damage myself and not for the first time. If ever a taxi is involved in any sort of accident there attitude is don't expect us to help |

This was about 1 of the only upsides of driving a metrocab. It was lots better driving passed [edited by admin] heads knowing that if they kicked you there'd be no dents.
