I suppose it's fair to assume one or more of the drivers at the rank were involved in the affray in some way. Or maybe the theft of the taxi wasn't directly related to the incident.

We are appealing for witnesses following an affray in Farnham in the early hours of Sunday, 10 May.

Officers were called following reports of a fight involving up to eight people outside a pub near the taxi rank on Castle Street, Farnham, at around 1.15am.

During the incident, a taxi was stolen and was later recovered with damage.

And one of those where the central theme of the very brief BBC rehash is on the taxi theft angle, from the headline on. Whereas the police news release above obviously makes the affray itself the central theme :-o


Taxi stolen and damaged after fight, police say

A taxi was stolen after reports of a late-night fight involving up to eight people, according to police.

Surrey Police said it was called at about 01:15 BST on Sunday to an altercation outside a pub near the Castle Street taxi rank in Farnham.

"During the incident a taxi was stolen and was later recovered with damage," officers said.

The force asked any witnesses to make contact.
