Police are investigating a “racially aggravated assault” after a man was seen assaulting a taxi driver in Northampton.

The incident happened in Billing Road near to the Palmerston Road and Cliftonville junction on Saturday May 23, between 1.45am and 2am.

A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said: “A 23-year-old man from Daventry arrested in connection with the incident has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.”

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, quoting incident number: 26000297344.
