Not much of a trade angle here, really, but there's a slightly daft statement about how he should have been paying more attention as a professional driver, etc
Northampton taxi driver banned after driving without due care and attention TWICEhttps://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/news ... ce-8658659Magistrates banned a Northampton taxi driver and landed him with a huge court bill after he admitted driving without due care and attention TWICE in the town.According to court documents, Akintunde Adeyemo also pleaded guilty to speeding and confessed he had not seen signs and failed to notice a police vehicle’s sign telling him to follow it.
The 54-year-old was alleged to have been behind the wheel of a Toyota Prius spotted speeding at 70mph on a 60mph stretch of the A45 heading westbound between Brackmills Industrial Estate and the Barnes Meadow interchange at 2.20am on December 28, 2025.
Officers confirmed the Prius’ speed using the speedometer on their own police vehicle and turned on a matrix sign requesting Adeyemo to ‘follow me’.
According to a statement of facts: “The offending vehicle braked heavily to an unnecessary speed causing risk to other road users. The police vehicle having then changed the matrix to 'follow me keep up' had to decrease their speed to 19mph to allow the offending vehicle to catch up.
“The driver advised that he did not see the signage or the speed limit change. As the driver is a taxi driver and a professional driver, he should be aware of how to read and understand the signs on the road.”
Adeyemo also admitted a second charge of driving without due care and attention on Octagon Way, close to Weston Favell Shopping Centre, on April 11, 2026. This time, according to a statement of facts, his Prius “drove on the incorrect side of the carriageway at a give-way junction while indicating right, creating a risk of head-on conflict and driving carelessly and inconsiderately.”
Magistrates handed Adeyemo, of Ivy Road in the town, six penalty points for each due care and attention offence leading to him being issued with an automatic six-month ‘totting up’ disqualification for accumulating 12 penalty points within a three-year period. He was also fined a total of £1,665 at a court hearing held in Wellingborough on May 29 and ordered to pay a further £796 towards prosecution costs and a surcharge to fund victim services.
