Certainly a slightly different way of getting rid of the phone

Presumably either to stop the driver contacting police quickly, or maybe they didn't want to steal it because of a tracker or whatever they're called.

Or maybe just wanton vandalism and destruction of property.

Good image, though.

Do you know this man?

Officers would like to identify this man as they believe he may be able to help with enquiries into a robbery in Shrewsbury.

At around 1.50am on Sunday 4 October, two men became involved in a disagreement with a taxi driver on Victoria Avenue. One of the men then assaulted the driver, hitting him on the head before taking his mobile phone, throwing it into the river and leaving the area.

It is believed the man pictured was in the area at the time and may be able to assist officers with their enquiries.

If you know who this man is, or have any information that could help identify him, please email shropshireCID@westmercia.police.uk quoting incident number 22/96848/26.

Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

Be surprised if it wasn't the above.

But as SW says, the picture will ensure this scumbag gets caught.
