Almost workaday stuff that wouldn't be reported elsewhere, but the Ipswich Star is now one of those that does :-o

But I wonder what the procedure is for this - it reads like they were revoked under delegated powers, and then the chair was 'consulted'. Which presumably means 'told' :?

And a throwaway line at the bottom about the medical revocations...

Two Ipswich taxi drivers have licences revoked after crashes

Two taxi drivers have had their licences immediately revoked by the council after being involved in crashes with one incident injuring a person.

Ipswich Borough Council have announced that they have stripped two individuals of their combined hackney carriage and private hire driver’s licence.

It was revealed that one driver had his licence revoked on August 27 after they were involved in a road traffic collision in which a person was injured.

In a separate incident, on August 29, the council took the decision to immediately revoke the licence of another taxi driver.

This came as they were involved in a road traffic collision due to the manner of driving.

Both incidents were investigated and led to the drivers’ licence being immediately revoked.

The chair of the Licensing and Regulatory Committee was consulted.

No alternative options were considered.

This comes as two other taxi drivers had their combined hackney carriage and private hire licences suspended after they failed to provide the council with a medical certificate when asked.

So no waiting for the results of any prosecution then ?

I assume that in both cases the drivers were clearly at fault.

Maybe they pleaded guilty, or admitted to driving badly in their interviews, and the police passed that info on to the council.

All this kind of stuff is a bit too secret squirrel for my liking

Particularly since I suspect many local authorities would barely bat an eyelid at similar incidents, or at least the driver might get a slapped wrist by a committee :-o

Tough or lenient, there should at least be more consistency.
