HEADLINE: Get a lift from a pink goddess

City businesswoman Lisa Zacki is in the pink.

Mrs Zacki, who already runs a successful beauty salon, has branched out into the taxi business.

And she says Goddess Cars will be run by women for women. Her Goddess salon opened in North Road, west Hull, in August 2003

The salon is instantly recognisable thanks to its bright pink fascia and animal print and pink interior. The design proved so popular Mrs Zacki decided to brand the private-hire cars the same way.

She said: "Business at the salon is going really well. The colour attracts people's attention and we are in a really good location with lots of passing traffic. "It was always my intention to expand and I'm set to open a second Goddess salon in Holderness Road by Christmas.

"In April, I came up with the idea for Goddess taxis, based on my own experiences. When I go into town I always seem to be waiting ages for a taxi and the long wait puts me off going out.

"I'm using the same branding as the salons because pink is something that will attract all women - it's funky and girly. "There is always room for more taxis in a city like Hull. You do hear terrible stories about women who get into unlicensed taxis.

"But with Goddess you can be sure which taxi is yours and we will use female drivers. It's run by women for women, without excluding men." The private-hire cars will be designed for women, but men will still be able to book them over the phone.

Mrs Zacki, 34, said: "There will be mirrors, tissues, hand cream and hand sanitiser in the passenger seats - pretty much everything a girl needs. "One of the things that contributed to the salon's success is our loyalty scheme and we will be continuing that with the cars.

"People will get their loyalty card stamped when they use Goddess cars and after so many stamps they will get one journey free. "It's about giving something back to loyal customers, which I think is really important."

The taxis will be on the streets in mid-October. Initially, they will be based in the west of the city.

I'm origionally from that part of the codhead county, some areas [no go] you just don't go to, Bransholme, parts of East hull, they can have it, you do hear of terrible things happenning to taxi drivers going into unlicenced areas, sorry, "no go" areas

when you go into an off licence in most parts of that area, the whole shop is caged off with just a narrow walk way to the serving till, which is also armoured glass surrounded
