Man tells court of male rape in taxi

A man has told a jury how he was sexually attacked at knife point by a taxi driver who had just picked him up at a city centre nightclub.
The club-goer, in his 20s, said he had been scared with the knife at his neck and was forced to comply with the taxi driver's demands.

The taxi had picked him up after he had been to the Blowing Wild club, described in court as a gay nightclub, in Grimshaw Street, Preston, last March.

The man said the taxi then pulled up in London Road and the driver, who he described as an Asian male with "prominent teeth," got into the back of the cab where the passenger was seated, Preston Crown Court heard.

He then saw that the driver had a knife in one hand, which he put behind the victim's neck. The passenger said the driver then forced him to commit a sex act.

The passenger said that later in the month he attended Preston police station and viewed a number of images, picking out one as his attacker.

The prosecution alleges the man he picked out, defendant Haroon Rashid, was also identified by another earlier victim.

Rashid, 29, of Nimes Street, Fishwick, Preston, is charged with rape in relation to one man and false imprisonment and affray regarding the other incident. He denies all charges.
