If the vehicles are unsafe then surely it doesn't matter what day of the week they get taken off the road. :?

I think the Real point is that if the enforcement teams were out during the day checking vehicles then there would be no need for them to hold special operations at the busiest time of the week, mind you I suppose the enforcement officers wouldn't be getting paid time and half and a day off in loo..... :roll:

I think the spot checks are a far better method of enforcement.

But the reason there are queues of passengers following a spot check isn't due to the number of cabs taken off, but because many drivers go home and hide. [-X

The queues would have probably been there anyway, but it's obviously convenient to blame the spot-checks :?

I think the real point is to instil fear; these checks are more like an ambush, hence they are carried out at peak times for maximum effect. No point in doing checks when the financial penalty is a lot less. This would appear too reasonable.
