Thats all very well and the law is the law.
But the law says "enclosed public places" so stood outside your vehicle isnt an enclosed public place.

Yep you are correct, but just wanted to remind folk that people have been fined over the ban in Scotland. You still see a lot of taxi/phv drivers smoking in their cars, even with public in them.

The bit about smoking outside of the car is a bit of a joke as you will be in an open public place. Ah well councils know best NOT!!

Well their not going to, they are going to rely on the grasses out there doing it for them.

And there are plenty of them. Two spring to mind straight away. Image

I can't wait to get my first ticket for smoking in my cab (ok so the one I got in Aberdeen is not included  ) I'll ask for a Court hearing and fight it all the way. It is my right to smoke; I'm over 18 and aware of the health impllications. I am also well aware of the "health implications" of getting out of my cab, and walking away from it to have a smoke in the middle of the night  - I'll take my chances and stay int he cab thank you very much.

And just to give all you anti-smokers something to think about; us smokes contribute an awful lot of money to the Government via the hugh taxes that we pay on our "habit". Now if we were all to take up the Governments incentives and QUIT we would all be entitled to FREE patches / gum etc, FREE counselling, PAID LEAVE from work to deal with the stress of giving up, FREE prescription drugs to ease the side effects and all this on top of the vast deficit in the amount of money that the Government gets from the TAX that none of us would be paying. I think in a long winded way I was trying to say - if we all give up smoking your tax bills will rise and the base rate will end up at about 35% (raising the 40% to about 65%) so .............. do we really want a smoking ban????

Tigger where do you live, if you live in England and you where driving your cab in Scotland you should not have payed any fine, as it only apply's to Scottish cabs at the moment.
