Post subject:  Edinburgh Council finally admit defeat in license appeals

After two years of wanton disregard for what can only be described as the abuse of the legislative process in respect of Taxi License applications, Edinburgh council has finally admitted defeat.

License applicants have now been informed that they are free to obtain their operator license on production of a suitable vehicle.

I needn't remind everyone of the depths Edinburgh council went to in order to stop these licenses being issued and the abuse these applicants had to endure because certain people thought it contemptible that they should even exercise their right to apply for a license.

The fact remains that the applicants were right in law and thankfully in the end, it was the law that brought them justice. Many of us knew that Edinburgh council was abusing the statutory process and this was borne out by comments in the recent Court of Session judgement.

It gives me great satisfaction to know that all those involved in these cases can now put two fingers up at their detractors and abusers knowing full well that those who laugh last, "laugh the loudest" and "longest".

Well done to all of those involved, be that directly or indirectly. =D> =D> =D>

One day folks are going to look back and ask 'did they really refuse a licensed cab driver a licensed cab?'. :-s

And for the lads who haven't yet got their plates, well the battle isn't over yet.

lol at least a precendent has been set in regards to awaiting a survey report as an excuse for being granted an extension of time. That Court of Session decision is going to put all restricted Scottish Authorities in deep water.

Edinburgh Council has written to the legal representative of M&V Taxis and informed them that they no longer wish to procede with their appeal.

As I predicted, the Capitulation of Edinburgh council is nearly complete.

Well done M&V.
