....after job plea by speeder.

Lincolnshire Echo. (again)

"A driver has kept his licence despite being caught speeding, after he told a court that a ban would cause him to lose his job. Andrew Cooper (45) (is that his age or his speed?  ) had TWICE been clocked at over 40mph in a 30mph zone (it WAS his speed then!  ) and because of previous convictions he faced losing his licence. Lincoln Magistrates heard that he drove two nights a week for Discount cabs. After listening to his pleas, magistrates gave him six penalty points, but did not ban him.

So when it was claimed he would lose his job, was it the part-time taxi driver's job being referred to, or another job?

Probably his other job BUT you can only use that plea once if he gets caught again he will lose his license ?

Only a thought! if that is true, then how did that guy ( different Topic ) still drive with 31 points on his licence?

You can get 31 points for just one incident.
4 defective tyres- 12 points
no tax- 3 points
no insurance- 6 points
speeding- 3 points
driving without due care and attention- 3 points
going through a red light- 3 points

That is 30 points for a start and you still don't get a ban.

You have to wonder how many points he would have if he drove full time.

If his driving record is poor then I suppose some councils might consider take his badge away, even though he was allowed to keep his driving license?

However he could always apply next door for a hackney carriage badge in the hope that they are as considerate as the magistrates when considering his livelihood?
