Driver cleared of 'grope' claim

A Taxi driver has been cleared after a woman claimed she was groped in his taxi.

Ali Pour, 36, was found not guilty at Nottingham Crown Court of sexual touching.

Judge Andrew Hamilton discharged Mr Pour, who had no previous convictions, from the dock.

The woman had claimed Mr Pour had touched her breasts over her clothes three times during a five minute journey to her Sneinton home on June 17 this year.

Nottingham Crown Court heard the driver picked up the woman from a city centre gay bar and she sat in the front passenger seat.

But Mr Pour, of Darlton Drive, Arnold, said he may have touched her as he reversed but not on her breasts.

A letter from his taxi company to the court described him as a "model driver" during the nine months he had worked for Trent Cars based in Manver Street in the city centre.

The married father-of-one had demonstrated to the court how he had reversed his car, moving his left arm around in the process.
