China targets con-men cabbies

Shanghai police are cracking down on tourist scammers in the run-up to the Olympics after one unsuspecting visitor was charged £ 500 for a £ 4 taxi ride. Foreigners are targeted as they step off the train from Shanghai airport and charged hundreds of pounds for short journeys that should cost no more than a few pounds. When they refuse to pay, they are robbed or intimidated. Eight members of one gang are now in custody.
