Death fear as rogue cabbies ignore signs

DALKEITH taxi drivers have warned that someone could be killed by rogue cabbies defying no entry signs at the town's taxi rank.

Russell Rankin, secretary of the Midlothian Taxi Owners Association (MTOA), claimed some drivers habitually flout temporary "no entry" signs, which were erected to safeguard public safety.

He said: "People are coming through it at high speeds.

"In September the council agreed to get permanent no entry signs put up in the interests of public safety, but this hasn't happened yet. The problem is really serious and I'm afraid someone is going to get badly hurt."

"People are breaking the law and there's no one here to stop them."

I would have thought Dalketh Taxi drivers would have made more fuss about the fact their rank was moved out of sight behind Jarnac court, than worrying about No Entry signs.

You need a map and compass to find them nowadays.
