It just goes to show that they don't make Taxi drivers' like they used to....... I can remember a 65 year-old Sefton driver getting a shotgun pointed at the back of his head while he was driving a fx4... the man demanded his takings... he threw himself to one side and slammed on his brakes..... the shotgun went off smashing the glass behind his head and putting a whole in the roof.... the man flew forward and cracked his head on the metal framework behind the driver.... when the cab stopped he got out and ran for it.

After he had finished making a statement to the police and they had finished with his cab he came to my garage where we pop riveted a plate onto the roof and he went back to work........Oh the good old days......

Many years ago when i used to manage off-licenses I was held up by armed robbers it is a horrific experience having a gun held to your head and one that takes a lot of time to get over

Fortunately things like this are quite rare in my neck of the woods but there was an incident 15 years ago when a local driver picked up a fare from the Police station he dropped them across the road from Corby police station at which point they put a knife to his throat anfd robbed him

it turned out that the knife had been handed back to the passengers at the local police station because it was small enough to be legal and Corby police were unable to trace them even though they had been arrested and then released at our local police station

Carriage of a knife displays intent to use. The penalty should be as if it had been used with dire consequences. I suggest 5 years in jail.

Carrying a gun should be 20 years. End of.

We should all be able to go about our business without having thse threats thrust upon us.

I was once shot in the head at point blank range whilst working as a taxi driver.

They didn't get my money :)
