I've added to this passage because Grandad yet again reminded me about weddings contracts being exempt from licensing. This is the second time I've made that mistake and the way my memory is rapidly degenerating then I don't suppose it will be the last time I make it. lol

My original comment stated the following but considering it doesn't apply to weddings then it no longer has any significance apart from the fact that the company website offers these vehicles for all occasions and not just weddings. I could have deleted the inapplicable text but I thought I would leave it intact so that anyone who wants to take a pot shot at my fallibility can do so with my blessing. lol. My original comments,

I'm not going to comment on this until someone tells me it wasn't licensed as a PSV. Then I'll ask the obvious question who hired and paid the driver? Because it certainly wasn't the Bride and Groom. However it just might be the case that this limo is one of the few 16 seaters in the country that are licensed as PSV.

I feel sorry for the Bride because she was obviously looking forward to arriving in style. Instead she had to make do with a local cab. Somewhere down the line I get feeling there might be a compensation case looming here.

Taxi! Bride's limo fails to turn up

Gazette

A BRIDE'S day was nearly left in tatters when her carriage failed to arrive.

Sara Pasmore had planned to travel from her Clacton home to Colchester Register Office in a limousine. But the 24-year-old and her wedding court were stranded when the 16-seater luxury car broke down and had to be cancelled.

They were left to book separate taxis from Trimley Close.

The Jaywick-based limousine hire company has apologised for the short-notice cancellation, which was caused by the vehicle breaking down.

Thankfully eight-months-pregnant Sara did get to the register office and married 23-year-old Richard Teare.

Her sister, Dee Blenheim, said: "It's been an absolute nightmare.

"The limousine was supposed to be here at 11am but they rang at 9.20am to say both their cars had broken down.

"They sent someone over with the £180 deposit and that was it.

"The wedding itself went really well, it was really emotional, but it was a traumatic start to the day.

"We hoped it would go smoothly because Sara has been through a lot recently, including losing our mum (Kathleen Pasmore) in June. Instead it was absolute chaos."

A driver at A1 Anglia limousine hire, of Broadway, Jaywick, apologised for the cancellation. He said a wheel bearing fault was detected on route and could not be repaired in time. "We couldn't risk taking 16 people in a faulty vehicle. We are really, really sorry."

George Smith, joint owner of A1 Anglia limousine hire, said:"We tried to contact the bride to tell her what had happened at about 8.30am.

"As she had lost her phone, we had to send one of our guys round to the future husband's to explain the situation.

"We then immediately arranged for the £180 deposit to be returned to them in cash so they could book the taxis.

"There was nothing else really that we could do."

Of course they are, you are quite right lol why do I keep forgetting that? However I don't suppose this vehicle is solely used for weddings, do you?

I couldn't comment on that.
