On teletext page 310 there is a story of another taxi driver who has been killed 71 year old Gian Chand Ba-jar, a farther of 5 who worked for a local firm.
He was assaulted and run over by his own car which was later found burnt out
In an update the police have arrested a suspect

It was featured quite prominently on the national TV and radio as well - was it the lead story on ITN early evening news?

Been on local news this evening - someone has been arrested! My heart goes out to the family of the poor guy! But for the grace of God - thats any one of us ...................... May he rest in peace and may his family get the justice they deserve. XXX I'll light a candle and remember him in my prayers.

Just had a look up on google on this, and took a little comfort that there is over 85 different write ups on this dreadful story.

Maybe all this press will get through to the powers that be. :-s

If i remember right,Mr T said this was the 45th murder of a Taxi Driver in 15 years  .Lets just hope that these statisics get through to the powers that be and that the taxi trade as a whole can do something to cut the number of Drivers being killed whilst providing a service to the public. I sometimes wonder what it is like for the new drivers in this job as i remember a few harrowing times when i was a young un,but like a typical taxidriver i say it was worse in them days.

This is one of the companies we look after and I thought something was seriously wrong when the police said they were removing the hard drive from the main dispatch PC as evidence. We had an engineer at the site the day it happened but he had already left when the incident occurred. Our records are pretty comprehensive and hopefully will help the police nail the evil [edited by admin] that carried out this unnecessary act.

Looks like someone dirty piece of scum has admitted to killing Gian Chand Bajar.

Let's hope he gets convicted of the higher charge next year.

According to the defence it was a tragic accident.

http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kol08/artic ... e_id=41172

But the prosecutions says otherwise.

Alan Kent, prosecuting, said Aujila directed Mr Bajar to a cul-de-sac in St Benedict's Avenue, close to Dorchester Road, where he was then living. An argument started and both men got out of the cab, and Aujila knocked the victim to the ground and kicked him, probably to the head.

Mr Kent said: "According to one witness, Mr Bajar tried to get up but was unable to do so. According to another witness, he was unable to move at all.

"Following the assault, the defendant got into Mr Bajar's taxi, this time on the driver's side. He attempted to make a three-point turn but was unable to do so.

"He drove to the end of the cul-de-sac, turned the car around and then he drove straight at and over the prone body, causing extensive and, as it turns out, fatal injuries.

"Mr Bajar died later that night in hospital. The defendant sped away from the scene in the taxi. He drove to a service road behind his home, then set fire to the car."

"he did not have the money to pay the fare" well it just doesn't get better than that.

I can't think of a better reason to kill a 71 year old grandfather.

The price of a taxi fare home . ...

They should take the little bas*ard and chop his arms and legs off and stick him in a wheelchair for the rest of his natural ... a reminder to all ....
