Just got a flyer through the post.

The Vito for London is being launched Sunday 29 June, Battersea Park.

I would have lost money on that one.

Does that mean the turning circle has been dropped or is it one of these 4 wheel steer ones :?:

Strange how the launch hasn't been openly advertised, for instance on the Internet, or has it?

A welcomed addition to the London trade, and if the lads want to buy one then good luck to them.

Funny how LTI have been very quiet on the issue, especially in view of them being a listed company. [-(

But when MetroCab were in one of their many relaunches periods I 'm sure LTI welcomed the competition.

It will be like any other vehicle, give it a couple of months and we will hear the usual calls / moans not to buy it because of the doors, rear wheel steer, roof light etc etc

There will never be a pefect vehicle.

From what I hear you won't get much change from £34K, nor any great improvement on the MPG front.

Naturally we are hungry for information about this vehicle so if anyone has any information on it including photos, then don't be shy about sharing it.

LTI had a TX4 'on display' at the Heathrow feeder park yesterday.

As if the the Faces out there don't already know all they need to.

The Vito Effect, along with the ecconomic slow down, has already cut in. Along with interest free credit, I'm told that you can get a Gold for the price of a Silver, Silver for the price of a Bronze, and a Bronze for the price of...........to be negociated.

I have not had one of their vehicles for over 2 1/2 years and the one that I did have was sent back under the terms of the agreement - about 5 weeks ago the phone goes Umm would I be interested in another vehicle Umm yes! but not yours - desperate times when they start cold calling.

I understand the vehicle is based on the Mercedes Traveliner which I assume has the same or similar specifications as that highlighted by Skippy.

One thing is certain, we will see this vehicle in every town and city that currently restricts vehicles by way of a turning circle.

The T&G who have fought against vehicle choice and change for many years will not like it one little bit but that's progress for you.

Well done Mercedes and KPM.

Eco City Vehicles PLC
16 June 2008

EXCLUSIVE CONTRACT TO LAUNCH NEW MERCEDES "LONDON CAB"

EcoCity Vehicles plc ('EcoCity' or 'the Company') is pleased to announce today that it has signed an exclusive contract with Mercedes Benz to launch a new Mercedes "London cab" through its KPM-UK Taxis subsidiary.

The new lower emission six-seat taxi is based on the Mercedes Vito Traveliner. Its rear wheel system, designed and engineered in Britain by EcoCity's associate company One80 Limited, enables the vehicle to comply with London's famous statutory 25 foot turning circle.

The new vehicle will be primarily aimed at London's approximately 25,000 licensed taxi drivers. The new vehicle will be able to be hailed in the street or from one of over 500 designated ranks in London. In keeping with all London cabs, the new vehicle is 100 per cent wheelchair accessible.

KPM-UK will become the Multi-Franchise Dealer with exclusivity in Greater London and will run the new Mercedes Taxi Dealership in separate premises alongside its London Taxi International (LTI) Dealership, which it has held since 1989.

It is intended to launch the vehicle in London on the 26th of June, at the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders, and the vehicle will go on sale shortly afterwards.

Peter Da Costa, EcoCity's Chief Executive, commented: "I am delighted to have been part of the comprehensive team that has worked tirelessly on this project for the last three years and I am very proud to now represent two of the world's finest taxi manufacturers.

"Cab drivers and passengers in London will now have a choice of vehicle, and we as a company will continue to look after the driver's needs, something we have done successfully since 1975."
