Don't know about that Mr Brummie, but it would certainly weed out drivers who weren't au fait with the English language.

Q 11 is a bit confusing though, because there are two schools on the map.

I suppose it could still be worked out though.

Surely, you meant competent in the English language, in the three disciplines of reading, writing and speaking?

Who is this 'au fait' and which part of England does she come from?

Well I suppose there's a certain irony in using a phrase originating from French in relation to a statement about the use of English, but I didn't appreciate the irony at the time.

A simpleton's course and far from adequate. I've yet to encounter a punter who gave me multiple choice options for their change. If an applicant doesn't know how much change to give from a twenty pound note without multiple options then they shouldn't be driving a cab. The paper is designed for an 8 year old and is an insult to ones intelligence.

It would appear there is a chasm between my opinions on quality driver controls and yours.

This test is probably not designed to be difficult but some of our eastern european cousins may struggle a bit because the test is in ENGLISH. I think that this is the point of the test.
