Noticing he had blood pouring from his nose and injuries to his hands, he asked for £20 up-front before making the trip to the market town.

Are things really that bad that drivers are forced to pick up folks like that?

I would'nt even have a conversation with him. [-(

If it was a black cab, how did the scumbag even get at the handbrake?

I know it was quiet on Saturday night but there's no chance he would have got into my cab too. The daft thing is that the rank is Policed too and the two coppers put the jobs into the taxis as it's a rank whereby you are blocked in. It's hard to knock a job back as there is no means of escape. However, if a copper has put the punter into the car (which he probably has) it's a bit of a disgrace. Anyone with cut's/bloody hands etc coming to my taxi, it's straight down with the door locks and bye bye. Not worth the hassle. I must say however that I can't remember the last fight I saw in the City Centre. I think with the CCTV now people realise the Police will be there in seconds and they're guaranteed to be nicked.
