Thug Jailed over Taxi Driver Attack
25th July 2008
A Thug who attacked and robbed a taxi driver in Slough has been jailed for two-and-a-half years.
Aaron John Russon, 20, of Ripley Close, Langley, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Monday last week for his part in the brutal robbery last year.
At about 1.45am, an unnamed taxi driver was called to an address in Maplin Park, Langley. Russon and three or four accomplices climbed into the taxi, demanded money and repeatedly punched the driver.
When the driver reached for his car radio to call for help, one of Russon’s accomplices tried to stab him and another hit him in the face with a bottle until he fell unconscious. The muggers stole about £200 in cash from the taxi, leaving their victim with serious cuts and bruises to his face and a deep cut to his right hand which required an operation.
Det Con Sarah Noah of Berkshire East CID said: “I am pleased with the sentence and hope that it will go a long way in terms of reassuring taxi drivers and the community in Slough that crime of this nature will not be tolerated.”
Nobody else has been arrested in connection with the incident.
