Three held over taxi robbery

Three teenagers have been arrested after an Essex taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint.

The driver was robbed of a three-figure sum after being threatened with a knife in Mapleford Sweep, Basildon. He was not injured, and the yobs fled on foot.

Three 16-year-olds - two from Tilbury and one from Basildon - were held on suspicion of robbery and bailed.

Not bright are our youth?

Ripping off a cabby for the contents of his bag. Hardly enough to buy the next spliff.

What future does our nation have if we can't inject ambition into our youth? If we can't teach boundaries? If we can't show how more could be achieved through a wee bit of craft and graft?

The problem here is that society is failing. We've fecked about with education so much, we've become so PC we don't require parents to bring their kids up with any semblance of standard, we're reaping the reward of ignoring real societal problems.

This time it was a cabby. next time it could be your granny, or your wife, or daughter or a son stabbed to death for a bauble.

Who really cares?
