When councils don't check, drivers moan. When they do checks, guess what?

Although this was posted in jest by Mr Sussex, It is another example of the victimisation of the Licensed Taxi Trade that is being carried out country wide in a bid to bring in one tier cab system. We will see much unrest in this field in the next few years as they are out to get us. But my money is on the HC guys, if any trade needs sorting out its the PH shower. In London one of the main reasons PH was bought in was to get rid of the rapes and serious sexual assorts on young women by mini cab drivers that was spiraling out of control. Well after three years of Licensed private hire there still running at approx 7 a month. So in that respect it has been a complete disaster. You may scoff and say They will never get rid of PH now, its too late, well its never too late and stranger things have happened. politicians will do anything to get votes. |

I'm all for a single tier system, with strong quality controls. But this does not include unreasonable vehilce age limits. The test has to be whether any vehicle is road worthy, age is irrelevant in this respect. With proper vehicle tests it is the responsibility of any owner to present a safe vehicle for inspection. Fail the etst and and no licence is renewed. That's the quality test requirement. Restricting vehicles to 7 years is fascism. It is councillors playing God. There's no legal imperative for it. It is entirely unnecessary. This is why local government licensing needs urgent reform. Local government needs clearer definition of what it's powers are, and their discretion needs to be tightened. We need to see proper standards of decision taking established, with case precedents being established so that there are benchmarks for councils and councillors to adhere to. This would bring fairness to a system that has become a fertile ground for councils "digging out" those whom they don't like - usually those who oppose their fascist actions. We also need to see an appeal system brought into the licensing legislation, an independent arbitration system established, judged by independent experience lay people, to act as a barek on councils, at a price that is not prohibitive to those appeal draconian council decisions. We should remember that councillors exist to serve us, not lord it over us protecting a faceless bureaucratic machine that exists to serve the careers and egos of petty bureaucrats. Councillors should be protecting us, not sticking it to us because they can. There's much wrong with licensing. It's only our docile servitude that perpetuates its ills. We have got the licensing system we deserve. |

Perhaps that's why folks phone Premier or Addison Lee for a Minicab because they know a new vehicle with Air Con will turn up? Perhaps you could post details of the source of this information, otherwise people may think you've simply plucked a figure from the sky?
I call the departure of 20'000 opposition members a result. |

That's right MrA, avoid the issues raised once again. So basicaly you're talking sheite again, just like the Kings Cross rank lies. I and the rest of the readers will await your official '7 attacks a month' source, although I think we'll all be waiting a long time.

Nice to see someone representing the gay community within the London Licensed Taxi trade, but doesn't it become harder to meet guys at your age?
