Driver's Hijack Terror
30th August 2008
Beware! Drivers have been warned to be on their guard after hijackers left a taxi driver in hospital and stole his cab.
The private taxi driver, who has been named by friends as John Shone (43) and works for Links Taxis, was beaten up by a gang of four men on Boulevard Avenue.
It is claimed they forced him to stop using a bollard to block his path.
The taxi was later found burnt out.
The shocking attack came just minutes after a gang tried to hijack a lorry laden with copper, just a few streets away on Grimsby's Pyewipe Road, at around 3am on Friday.
The lorry driver told how he was forced to stop when a young cyclist pretended to fall off his push bike on the road in front of the lorry.
