This story is from FT.com online; Letters No Place For Elites In London 2012 3rd September 2008 From Mr Nanda Menon. Sir, Global Positioning System navigation technology has made the expensive and elitist black cab system in London obsolete. While the rest of the City embraces the competition and opportunities that new technologies bring, we are still faced with an antiquated closed shop when it comes to our daily commute. This monopoly, buttressed by the prohibitive tax on private transport that is the congestion charge, is woeful value for money when compared to the taxi systems of any of our competitor cities. Demand for affordable, reliable transport at the 2012 Olympics provides a worthy opportunity for GPS navigation technology to open the black cab system to competition. Here is an opportunity to showcase London's capacity to innovate in urban transport and provide an Olympic legacy of daily value to Londoners. Nanda Menon, Partner, Triumvir Partners, London W1, UK Source; FT.com; COMMENT & ANALYSIS, Letters |

Quite amusing someone from the City talking about value for money.
Of course there is nothing stopping him walking, as that is value for money. |

Personally the whole thing will be a disaster and W1J 6BD will have a lot of lost people aimlessly wandering around. CC |
