Bob Oddie was today interviewed by ITN as the TFL representative of the cab trade over the spate of fires that have occurred in 56 plate TX4's.
He mentioned that his association would fight for compensation for the drivers involved. His association being the LTDA.
Does that mean all the drivers, or just the ones that pay him subs.
Isn't he, as trade representative to the whole of the cab trade on the board of TFL, supposed to represent the whole of the cab trade, not just his members.
Why would he make a statement like " my association will be fighting for compensation for the drivers".
He also accused Justin Sneddons of exaggeration when he claimed his vehicle had metre high flames issuing out of the top in just 60 seconds. Oddie although home in bed said that this was not the case.
Surely he must be asked to step down from the LTDA as there seems to be a conflict of interest.

Why do I sense self interest in your post?

The guys position on the board and in the LTDA are two separate things.

Why should the LTDA seek anything for those who dont contribute?

Contra to popular belief, I am not a current member of the LTDC or the LTDA although at one time I belonged to both.
There is no self interest in my post, I am just a commenter, part of a focus group, who truly believe that the position on the board of TFL calls for a dedicated representative. By dedicated I mean one who has no financial or political bias towards any one section of the trade. He/she should be total neutral and going on past performance I think Bob Oddie was a wrong candidate.

I would suggest that there is every probablity that whatever Bob Oddie achieves in the way of compensation for his members then LTI will reciprocate the same to every other owner/driver, no matter what organisation they belong to?

I would expect your right JD...but never allow this to get in the way of a good old bias by some.

Well I think Thomas is right to want to question Bob Oddies loyalties.
As for you Captain, me thinks you do protest to much![-X

You must be a member of his club, that would make your opinion bias.
Thomas is independent as he doesn't subscribe to any union or association.
I admit to having a bias as I belong to the LTDC.

I am not a member of Bob's 'Club' but having dealt with the gentleman for a number of years he has never been anything other than helpful and courteous.

Why question it?

He doesn't hide the fact that he is top dog of the LTDA, thus any agenda he has is far from hidden.

As my signature says, its one sad old trouble maker from Harrow Shiite stirring, just ignore him, everyone else in London does.

Thomasthetaxi aka Londonjim sits in a cab cafe exercising his jaw bone seven nights a week, contributes fook all to the trade apart from the angry comments you see on here, and then makes out he's some authority within the London taxi trade.

I'm over the moon Bob Oddie gets up your ageing hooter Mr A, that's worth paying treble subscriptions just for that.

Brilliant, just brilliant. :D
