James Whale has impressed the bosses at LBC during his stint covering for Clive Bull and has now been rewarded with a drive-time slot on LBC 97.3FM competing directly with an ailing BBC London 94.9fm and Capital 95.8fm.

Whale is to begin presenting from November weekdays between 4pm - 7pm.

Jonathan Richards, programme director at LBC 97.3, says: “James is a quality broadcaster, a talk radio natural, who loves the medium and loves engaging with his listeners”.

According to second quarter Rajar figures, LBC’s audience reach dipped 6.8% year on year and dropped 15.3% quarter on quarter.

Global Radio the holding company for LBC recently announced job cuts at LBC and the potential that 1152AM may see all of its staff replaced by pre-recorded shows.

BBC London is rumoured to be looking to revamp its drive time slot which is seen as a particularly weak slot with Eddie Nestor presenting, Kath Melandrie who used to co-host the show has now taken up a position in production at the BBC.

That should liven up drivetime a bit though i did enjoy Petrie Hosken and James Hartigan from time to time. I'd still prefer James Whale to be on later perhaps replacing Bill Buckley.

The presenter i really can't stand is that t*** on a Saturday evening who is obsessed with "celebrities", generally the type that come out of the big brother house........i'll check his name on the site....Foufas or summat..................got it! Cristo Foufas.....what an irritating pratt that guy is!!

I've been listening to LBC for a good few years now, pretty much 6 months after i got my badge, initally i'd listen to music radio but over the course of a shift i'd hear the same songs played time and again; even on Capital Gold which has a huge library of music at its disposal but they would play the same songs by the same artists instead of digging out the rarer songs by groups like the temptations, drifers, beatles etc. At least with speech radio you get to hear some interesting debate, get wound up or entertained by peoples comments and every so often even make a call yourself if so inclined to voice an opinion.......i spoke to the then Mayor, Ken Livingstone a good few times on the Nick Ferrari show to voice my concerns and every time the t*** came out with random figures to support his argument that were way off the truth.

Anyhows, going off topic there, suffice to say that I'll be starting my shift a bit earlier now to catch at least 2 hours of James Whale.

:P

Sorry Captain, no hidden meaning.Image
Its just an update after someone else posted, that James was back a short timer ago.
He is a friend and a supporter of the London Taxi Trade.
Quite a few drivers were upset to see him fired from Talk SportImage
Plus I tried to inject a spot of humour with the Whales -Wales heading aftyer the heat of previous posts Imagejust tried to cool things off.Image
I do hope you understand the meaning a bit clearer now

I post on here under different names as I'm a very lonely old man who's heading towards an early grave as GBC is really starting to get to me.
Have a look at my blog, no one reads it, no one leaves any comments, if they do they call me a cretin and a freak, I guess I have to be, but don't worry, the LCDC will save me, all 34 of them . . .

Easy innit?

Have a look back at your previous post then Mr A.
