The EU normally allow these countries to vote again to get the right vote next time - like they did with that ballot in Ireland.

There was a black humour comedy from the late eighties all around what would happen if the UK ever voted for a proper socialist and free thinking government - it was called a very british coup

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Very_British_Coup

if you get the chance - watch it!

The issue has been sorted, for now, but was this outcome better than the original decision?

Now the rich will pay a higher rate, most of us have no problem with that, and the insured savers are safe.

However the money that could have been used from the original decision, to tax the under 100,000 Euros, will now have to be found from cutbacks and redundancies.

So for those right at the bottom, with say 10,000 Euros in savings, the chances of them being made redundant have now increased.

Whereas under the original plan they would have paid about 300 Euros. :?

Very much of a fashion!!!

The very thought of the banks withholding ones money would be enough for most people to have their trust totally destroyed in the banking system. The fact that they have actually withheld, and then taken/stolen money with the backing of world governments, will be enough to alter banking, and any trust that people had forever in our lifetime. My thoughts are that the people from around the world will start, and then continue to withdraw their monies and hide it wherever. The actions of the banks will without a shadow of a doubt do nothing but increase tax evasion ( got to hide/divert the money as we can no longer trust the banks), in turn enhancing the the problems that we already have. The problems caused by that could really throw a spanner in the works, and precipitate countries actually going to the wall, so I guess that this is going to run for a very long time.

Thank you, I did just that.

It seems to be a rehashed version of buying "Unit Trusts" i.e spread the loan risks and sometimes take a hit.

I won't keep my savings,if I had any, in a bank. They give [edited by admin] interest anyway.
