The real Movers and Shakers are all the Pacific Rim countries and India, Europes dying on it's feet through being run by business ignorant eurocrats, Unless we look to the far east and also to woo our old trading associates we will sink into a terminal depression along with the rest of over regulated europe.

And how much did we export to the rest of the world before we joined the EU compared to now

dunno..but we Exported Ships, Cars, Planes, Motorcycles and Household Electrical goods in vast quantities, that of course was way back in the day when we actually manufactured things.

Now We are a Nation of Service Industries, Call Centers and Financial Markets...we are very much living in a House built of Cards.

Perhaps the ideal would be to leave the "EU" which the Electorate never got a say on, yet remain in the "EEC" which was the subject of a National Vote.

The "European Union" is not something I like being in. The advantages of being in the "European Economic Community" - as long as we don't become part of the "Euro" monetary system - are completely separate.

If the choice (if it is ever actually offered to us as a referendum) is a simple "In or Out" then I would have to be in the "Out" camp.

They do all of these already, and they do them cheaper than the UK could ever hope to.
Why would they want to trade with you? The UK has little to bring to the table.

We only ever Voted to Join a "European Common Market" but that but that Bunch of twisted, Sleekit deviants that over saw the project changed everything about how it was run and then gave themselves further powers to allow them to do as the fechin well wanted without any input from the very people they allegedly represent.

I just wonder at what point the people that Initially ran the Common Market suddenly took on the federalist mantle and started to lay down the law for the rest of us, and whom do they think conferred such powers upon them? It Certainly wasn't from you, me or anyone else we know!!!

Sadly true, but maybe instead of buying Ningkumnese Electricals or Tojo motors we could start building something of similar quality here in Britain, but alas, I fear we have lost all our Industrial skills for ever.
