Motorists have been hit by delays of up to 14 hours through Kent to get to the Port of Dover, with many holidaymakers being stuck in traffic overnight. Port officials said delays built up due to understaffing of French border posts during heightened security checks. The port warned of road delays of five to 10 hours, and Kent Police said there could be continued disruption for another 36 to 48 hours. Police are flying in water for stranded motorists by helicopter. P&O Ferries said there were estimated waiting times of up to 12 hours via the A20/M20, and up to three hours on the A2/A256, in addition to two hours at the port. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-36873632 |

As we all know enforcing the Shengen zone here in Britain is far more effective than enforcement in Turkey greece or Italy in the prevention of terrorism

This is a dig at us as they aren't bothered with Tunnel or other ports traffic. That said, it's a small price to pay for Brexit.

Nice was 17th, so why now? Extra checks but fewer French staff on booths? Just Dover-Calais? there are 1000's of ways into France from Spain, Germany, Italy, Belgium, etc, etc.. i bet there are no other checks anywhere |

the dover calais ferry run was french owned but they sold it amidst major protests and unrest maybe this is a way of making sure that those causing that trouble for the french government lose their jobs by causing large financial losses for the operators resulting in job losses or closure of the route after all the chunnel is french owned and will be the main beneficiary
