so Sunak gets to stay on until November when there will be a new leader and runners announced so far are

James Cleverley by name not by gob

Tom Tugandhat AKA mr Boring

and Robert Jenrick aka mr nobody

Noticeably absent are the two fillies who would be obvious frontrunners so far absent from the race

I think there are three of them, and one of them will make the final two, and that one will be elected leader.

not much coverage in the media but only 1 filly left in the race with jenrick the surprise frontrunner but plenty of time for candidates to shoot themselves in the foot by gobbing off

If the one lady left gets to the final two she will become leader.

If she becomes leader things will become interesting.

If Farage had a vote he would vote for Cleverly.

Not because he thinks he would do a good job for the Tories, but because him being leader would gift Reform dozens and dozens of extra MPs.

Think Cleverly didn't act too clever IMO.

But at least parliament will be a bit more interesting over the next four years.

well well well

so Jimmy C falls at the penultimate fence after his backers thought he had it in the bag

so racing towards the final fence it's Rob the rick and keminocher

Two possibly related points:

- they raised the 'no confidence' threshold from 15 to 33% of Tory MPs last week
- 57/43% is the lowest winning margin of any elected Tory leader

My take - they expected it to be close and wanted to protect the winner (at least for a while).

Will she be the one to lead the Tories into the next election? I am not sure she will be.

Think she has more chance of being a leader at the next election than Starmer.
