so SNP claiming the mandate in Scotland and Plaid Cymry in Wales coupled to the weakest willed PM in history what are the chances now of Wales and Scotland becoming fully independant ?

I think they are strong and if there was a referendum today I think the vote would be for independance based on how bad our governments have been over the last 10 years although I don't rate those of the Scottish and welsh parliaments much better.

Chances are probably higher than they were and for all the wrong reasons - resentment, boredom, frustration, etc.

As I recall, everything was going to be improved by Brexit. And yet here we are.

I voted remain because I knew the "promised" benefits wouldn't materialise and as you say here we are

38.2% of Scots voted for the SNP. That doesn't make a mandate.

35.4% of the Welsh voted for Plaid Cymry. That also doesn't a mandate.

in British politics it's bums on seats not vote share that counts

Neither could stand alone without Westminsters money, it woul be great to get rid of Welsh and Scottish MPs sitting in Westminster, imagine that, self rule for England.....

Quote:
Block Grant funding for the Scottish Government is the highest since devolution began at around £41 billion a year for 2022-2025. This means that for every £100 per person the UK Government spends in England on matters devolved to Scotland, the Scottish Government will receive around £126 per person in Scotland.

Over half the Scottish population (2.8 million people) receive some form of social security. running its own benefit system.
DWP
's annual operating costs for Scotland are £720 million (9.8% of DWP operating costs), which would increase under independence due to loss of economies of scale.

Quote:
The Welsh government budget as allocated by the UK government in 2020/21 was £20.1 billion, increasing to £24 billion in 2023–24. In 2021/22, public spending per person in Wales was £13,401. This compares with £13,881 in Scotland, £14,062 in Northern Ireland and £11,549 in England.

Wales has the one of the highest dependencies on welfare in Britain. Nearly 19 per cent of the working age population receive some type of benefit, compared with the British average of 14.5 per cent. The percentage of people claiming out of work benefits is around 16 per cent in Wales and 13 per cent in Great Britain.

They will expect not only to get independace but also money from Westminster to help them establish themselves as an independant nation.

The fact you are forgetting is that once independance is gained all the VAT,Income tax, capital gains tax, Corporation tax and North sea oil special taxes will go to the newly independant countries and in Scotlands case that is estimated to be considerably more than what they receive.
