Yes, well at least if the LA allows it.

Again it often seems to come down to the owners versus the rest - the owners like the idea of sat nav because it can be used to justify dumping topo tests, thus more drivers, whereas clearly others like the idea of a topo.

But I hope mr GBC doesn't see your statement above, hope he hasn't got a weak heart

I've been using my new TomTom 500 for nearly a month now in Central London, thats when it gets a signal.

The routes it suggest are frankly diabolical.

It takes time to enter the location, thus holding up the traffic, then on numerous occasions it tells you to turn into streets that you cannot, across junctions that you are forced Left only.

[edited by admin] me, it even suggested to me to u - turn whilst driving East on Piccadilly!

Nope, i'm happy the Sat nav will never betterwhat the human brain learns on the Knowledge.

Sat nav has a place in the future, for instance, in the suburbs for unheard of roads in Croyden, but if I followed it up town i'd be far better off financialy. (and so would the local council using cctv to dish out FPN's)

But then i've heard the Edinburgh 'Knowledge' is just a paper exercise.
