Anyway, however much a driver is paying in inflated rentals for the plate doens't really matter, it's the principle that many have a problem with.

I can quite understand people who have a vested interest in restricted numbers arguing for thier retention, but since you have no stake, I'm not sure how you can support drivers paying inflated rentals to those who control the plates.

Answer me this, if when you start renting you had to pay £100 over the odds because only some people in London were allowed to run cabs (say numbers were restricted to 10,000), presumably it would bother you?

What, you mean buying a plate?

So since most drivers in places like Liverpool and Edinburgh don't have a plate, presumably you think they're uncommitted?

Funny that they're still welcomed into the trade with open arms, because they're lining the pockets of plateholders - committment doesn't matter, as long as the cash keeps flowing

Funny why they seem to be such a big fan of the taxi drivers in 'deregulated' London :D

Hear that Mr Greenbadgecabby? Mr T thinks seems to think that the London black cab system doesn't work

OK then, perhaps you could explain the following.

You said:

Presumably this concurs with your own views.

By 'deregulation' you presumably mean the removal of numerical controls on taxis.

Since there are no numerical controls on London taxis, presumably the implication is that you (and the MPs you have spoken to) think that the London taxi system or regulation doesn't work?

By the way, I don't get the Rover joke :)

I never said at any stage i did, i think your trying to hard to de-cry everyone at once with your opinions, perhaps getting a bit muddled?

But on the Fastblacks/Edinburgh forum you said:

£285 a week? Jesus! i thought the london trade prices were a bit o.t.t.

How many hours do you have to work to pay that???

I won't complain too much with my £180 rent per week in January (full flat!)

You seem to have changed your tune somewhat, presumably it's just spun to suit whichever point you want to be making at the time?

My relative pays £220 a week for days, in January i pay £180 by-weekley as i rent my cab out on the flat. As i work non-stop throughout December
thats my choice to relax through Jan and Feb

Again you seem to be getting a bit mixed up, perhaps you should restrict the numbers on the forum, say to the highest bidder, then when they get bored they could sell it on, obviously at a higher price . . . .
