Your claiming the quota system is illegal because it stops people from other EU states from obtaining a licence even if they are not, or ever have been, in this country.

This judge was from Ireland (not part of the UK) and therefore very possibly ruling under different laws.

just heard from someone who has heard from someone who has heard from someone that the committee decided to keep restrictions today.
Appartrently the labour councillors where split between keeping quotas and getting rid of them.
The rest just wanted to not upset the applae cart.
Still we have a survey next year so it will all go on again.

One oether thing is that they didnt give a strong justification. But is there one?

Well I suppose it was a start that some saw how stupid quotas are wrong. I wonder if the Tory cab driver had a vote?[-X

But as you say Cgull, you will have to go though it all again next year.[-(

Then the next year when the government look again, then a couple of years later when your council have to do it all again.

You never know, in time the rest of the councillors will decide those Labour members got it right. :wink:

Ive just had it confirmed. I think the local paper is going to runa story.
I expect if they new half the truth then the edition wouldnt fit through many letter boxes. :shock:

Should be interesting. You could always phone up and give them your first hand knowledge of the Brighton Taxi trade.

After reading the partisan nature of the official paper, the result never really looked in doubt.

It would be interesting to draw up a paper dissecting the official document, but probably pointless - the issues don't matter, the politics do.

Common sense prevailed then? Well done to the Brighton lads if this is true and the local T&G. I bet they come up with the 5 WAVS per year like they said in the report.

I don't see it that way, it was the Councils decision, they had a survey and the survey said no un-met demand. By the way the don't the PH in Brighton run on the same tarriff as the HC?? I don't see much difference do you :D :D :D
