it will last a while, i think you will find that you may well have to wait a while longer for that free plate your heart desires.

oops i forget, even if you do get one, you realise that you will be better off buying it with some one else, thus only having half the risk.

p.s. you could always buy yourself a plate and join the folks on the ranks.

Don't you get the feeling that you are tying to hold on to something that is slipping through your grasp.

You hope it will never happen and fear the day that it does. It will never happen...or will it?

Buying a plate is out of the question for the very position you find yourself in. :wink:

31 SURVEY OF UNMET DEMAND RESULTS

Consideration was given to the report of the Corporate Director of City Development, copies of which had been circulated, informing members of the result of the Hackney Carriage Unmet Demand Survey of May 2005, undertaken by Halcrow Fox Consultants, which concluded that there was currently no significant unmet demand for the services of hackney carriages in Nottingham.

RESOLVED

(1) that the current numerical restriction on the number of hackney carriage licences issued be retained and reviewed in twelve months;

(2) that the supply of, and demand for, hackney carriages be monitored and the Corporate Director of City Development submit a report detailing the results to the Committee in twelve months when the impact of the new licensing regime was evident;

(3) that hackney carriage drivers be encouraged to provide an evening and night time service;

(4) that Members of the Committee be invited to the bi-annual meetings with Hackney Carriage and Private Hire representatives.

Has anything happened in Edinburgh yet, there seems to be a lot of claims and counter claims but nothing ever seems to happen, it seems the argument now is about how much money the council will give back to those that applied for fresh plates.
Very confusing :cry:

How else will drivers be encouraged to work un-social hours, other than paying more for their rides home? :-k
