How much is a PH operator license PER YEAR in your parts?

Do the arithmetic ..... it may be cheaper to go WAV, become a proper hack, than pay out HUNDREDS OF POUNDS A YEAR for a PH operator license.

Yeah or Hundreds of Pounds per month for a WAV

No its never occurred, but folk will tell you so you ask if they can transfer if yes no problem if no I get them a wav simple really

But if it did occur, you would be in breach of the DDA, because you could not provide the same service that could be provided to an able-boddied person.

And that's a criminal offence.

Ours is £101.90. It would take a good few years to justify spending out on a WAV rather than a PH ops license

How many buses are WAV's is that transport 100% or is it just when it's feasible :?

I believe all train carriages are now wheelchair enabled & in Brum all the buses now lower forward at bus stops & all the bus stops have elevated curbs so that wheelchairs can go straight into the bus, where there are specific places for wheelchairs.

Perhaps Brum is far more forward thinking on this subject than most councils.

After all Brums motto is 'Forward'.

Or aeroplanes....or trains.

facing facts we can get the wheelchair bound to all of these transport terminals....then basically they're screwed.

CC

No they are not!!!

Planes also have designated places for wheelchair passengers as do trains.

So true toots.....Its wrong that one group of opposing passenger transportation styles should try and get the other to be made to obey the same rules as they are subject to. I for one if needs be will go get a WAV or two and sell off my saloons and simply become a Hack....tis that easy to do here. now the real losers then will be those that already are Taxi drivers as there will be twice or thrice the competition in the ranks and on the street as there is at present.

Any wise hack should be praying to hell that PH dont need to be WAV..indeed campaining for them not to be, just to protect their own livelyhoods.

as they say...one should be careful for what you wish for....you might get it!

Thats an open market and competition for you.....unless you're saying those hacks in your area dont do PH work......which I find difficult to believe

CC

Yes they do....all Im saying is that they can Hack and Ph....but us PH's offer more of a threat to Hacks as hacks do to Ph's..simply because the Hack numbers will swell to allow ex PHs to earn the extra to cover WAV costs...thus meaning many extra we'll be competing for the same finite amount of rank and street hailed customers that to date we do'nt go chasing (us well behaved PH's that is)..

its no use arguing that in return you guys will get a bigger share of PH worked, that because in a lot of area the PH's already have that work sewn up, customers in the PH world tend to be a fairly loyal bunch..

Blimey that's cheap.

Brums is over £1200 for the initial grant & nearly £700 annually thereafter.

Designated places but not 100% as they expect taxis to be. Perhaps we should go down the same road and have designated taxis

The difference you forget about is that a plane is a transport mode for a group of people & whilst a taxi is too, it is also a transport mode for a single person.

And that's the difference as far as the DDA is concerned.
