Good luck mate, and don't give in even if it means you have to use whatever means you have to use

Is there a required amount of signatures needed before this is presented to the prime minister?

Alas I think you are right.

I suspect even a petition against the OFT study would have struggled to get past 500.

Called trade apathy.

Thankfully I don't really care about that, as it has been around since pre 1847.

This needs adressing on a national scale, it's pathetic to expect a suburb of Manchester to get a pettition together on their own backs, whats needed is the whole HC trade to stand up and dictate and keep PH out of it, because it really has nothing to do with them on the subject of ranks and acceptable numbers.

We have PH keep poking their nose in down here, wtf has it got to do with PH anyway, they cater for ppl who ring, these ppl know they've rang for a cab and have told the telephonist where they will be waiting, it's got FA to do with PH what is designated a HC rank,. and I cannot see why they have any say on things at meetings let alone why they are invited at all.

Because laws allows for inclusive consultations, not just for the interested parties. :D

Theres no doubt it needs addressing, if a council deregs they dont have to provide 'X' amount of rank spaces for 'X' amount of vehicles.

It seems to be coming home to roost in certain areas where decriminalised parking enforcement is leading to over-zealous traffic wardens booking cabs on sight. (hence the likes of that f*ckwit charles joining a internet parking site and getting drivers off parking offences, even though the drivers could join the same sites themselves  )

That aside, whose saying dereg is a good thing? Former Ph drivers buying WAV's and being forced to join radio circuits to pay the man?

Even if they did there are people who believe that choice is the most important thing and earning a living from that choice is secondary. There are some that believe market forces will sort the men from the boys but it doesn't it just creates an industry of people working silly long hours just to make ends meet and that was before the recession :D

Absolutely, I did 5 hours Monday to take £28 less fuel and car, and one job was £8 of it, I see some of the lads asleep in the car because they are doing 18 hours a day, luckily for me those days have passed, but if I had to payout current levels of mortgage and radio charges I wouldn't be doing the job, I'd get my £200 pw in a min wage job with no worries.
