Grandfather rights would give advantages to those existing Hackney Carriage vehicle licence holders. Ie new conditions do not apply to them. |

Yes, I suspect in essence it means that more onerous conditions applied to new licences won't be applied to existing ones. For example, any new licences granted to wheelchair accessible taxis rather than existing saloons, and the old plates allowed to keep their saloons. By the same token, new driver's might have to undertake a driving test to get a badge, while exisinting badgeholders could be exempt. By the way, I've changed the title of the thread, because the existing headline didn't quite get to the gist of the subject matter in question

Grandfather rights is HGV, it means if you held a car license before a certain year you can drive up to a 7.5T vehicle without taking an LGV test, still need a tacho card though. |

What about a CPC? or is that only for Drivers who have had to sit an HGV for a 7.5T. Ive a Sneaky feeling when you send off your Photo Licence these days for its 5 yearly renewal that some of these so called Grandfather Rights and their respective Catagory codes mysteriously dissappear from your replacement licence...or Am I just being Silly and overly cynical? |
