I am now being reliably informed that the written judgment was not due on 7th September 2009, but that the judge was returning from holiday on that day, after which he would make his written judgment available asap.

Member of the Liverpool cab trade that didn't like the outcome, and prefer drivers not to have a choice, will still fight to keep the turning circle in committee.

Clearly driver choice is not an option for the T&G. [-X

But how many are members?

The T&G in London represent less than 1000 drivers out of 26'000.

I think one is too many.

This appeared in the Liverpool Echo a couple of years ago I mark in bold the obvious mistake having owned and driven both LTI and E7 vehicles;

Call to test out new access cab
Nov 29 2007

WHEELCHAIR users and carers are being urged to test a new-style taxi that could soon be in use in Liverpool and Knowsley.

The Peugeot E7 cabs carrying six passengers are already in use in many UK cities.

There are moves to get the cab approved by the city's and Knowsley's taxi licensing bodies.

John Bruce, chairman of Liverpool Wheelchair User Group, says: "While the traditional black cabs are accessible for lots of people with mobility problems, they are not perfect for everyone and a large number of wheelchair users have difficulties using them. Some people have simply stopped going out.

"We believe the new taxi would make a huge difference to this city’s 12,000 wheelchair users."

Several of the new vehicles will be on display next Tuesday (noon-4pm) at the Liverpool Lifehouse premises in Brunswick Business Park.

Mr Bruce said: "It is an open invitation for anyone interested in mobility. The more people who can be there the better. We want to be able to tell the council that this vehicle will help huge numbers of disabled people living in the city, and, of course, it will benefit all the wheelchair-users who will be visiting Liverpool next year, Capital of Culture Year.

"We rely on taxis on a daily basis, but in the current London style cab it is not easy to turn into the safe secured position for travel. The result is that most wheelchair users travel sideways, unsecured for short journeys."

The all-new E7 taxi has features and options to help people, induction loops for the hard of hearing, high-visibility grab handles and seats for passengers with impaired vision, and electric side-steps.

In addition to high-quality wheelchair restraints and full lap and diagonal seatbelts the E7 taxi has a unique, pull-out access ramp which makes it much easier and quicker to access the cab.

Other features include wider doors, increased headroom, and an option for most wheelchair users to choose to be secured safely in either a forward or rear facing position.

Liverpool Lifehouse is in Summers Road, Brunswick Business Park, Liverpool. Tel: 0151 296 7733.
