Here is a link to a story about this sign from 2002. A bit out of date but you can see the problem.

There are regulations about road signs, if you feel the sign is incorrect in law then complaign to the council. They are the ones responsible for all road traffic signs in their area. In order to challenge any legality you are going to have to take a picture of the sign and with a witness. When you take the pic let us have a copy because if you don't intend defending it then you might as well close the book on it now.

Well the sign in the photograph isn't on a house wall, so presumably it's been shifted since the photo was taken?

The photo seems a bit contrived though - if it was taken from an approaching vehicle I doubt if it would look as hidden as it does 8)

I didn't say the sign was fixed to the house. It is right on a house making it more difficult to see than if it were at the side of the road. The other sign is about 50 yards furthe back up the road again right next to the house wall where it blends in more instead of being at the side of the road.
If at least one sign was at the end of the street where you are not supposed to turn in then it would be almost impossible not to see it but then there would be a loss of revenue.

So since you said it was "right on a house wall" and "against a house wall where it blends in nicely" does it make much difference that it isn't actually fixed to the wall? :-k

You were the one that seems to think there is a difference. The sign is still in the same place as far as I can tell.

No, it was you who thought there was a difference, as per your post of 2.53 pm?

My point was that your statements conveyed the impression that the sign was on a house wall, and when you said that it wasn't literally on the wall I asked what the difference was.

So if it's still in the same place as in the photo then presumably the sign in front of it has been removed?
