Get the Skoda one then, because your council's exemption is dead in the water after this judgment.

What's your opposition to WAVs anyway Mr Skippy41, or is it that you don't mind a WAV as long as it's a Skoda WAV?

PMSL.....a nights sleep and still skippy bashing? welcome to the club.

It could be a similar skoda to the metrocab skippy told us was coming 18 months ago???

And there isnt such a thing as a WAV exemption......that was only going to happen if the phase 1 and phase 2 areas came in.

No 1 ..... I AM NOT SKIPPY BASHING ..... I am just very intrigued why a Hackney driver would jump ship to PH just because some time soon, perhaps in the next 12 - 18 months his council will have NO CHOICE but to have a WAV only policy.

In the judgment, on the submissions of Allied Vehicles, the judge was told that 343 councils had already licensed the E7. Admittedly a good number of those won't have an all WAV policy, but after this judgment ......????

As regards Metrocab, they are now fully dead in the water, because the whole of their remaining parts department stock was sold a few months ago to the guy who used to run their parts department.

I'll tell you why because Skippy possibly has a similar reason to myself.

I drive a saloon HC for me.

I have to compete with other people who also drive saloon vehicles, these vehicles are cheaper, cheaper to buy, cheaper to service, and cheaper to insure.

I also have the advantage of not having to buy a second vehicle to ferry my kids and wife about, because in a WAV people would think they were passengers rather than family, this saves money on the running costs of an additional vehicle.

Now, if everybody else had to have a WAV that would be different because I would be competing on a business level with someone who has roughly the same costs.

But to say CC you get a £500 per month WAV (which will cost a lot more due to reasons set out above)......and allow your business rivals to have vehicles that cost £250- £300 per month (with little associated costs), does not make any sense at all.

Now please don't tell me that I will get all manner of different work for my new WAV......because I cannot see that being say an extra £300 - £400 per month which I will probably lose out on in associated running costs if I get a WAV.

Hope that makes sense!

CC

Your correct CC but you missed out one thing I will be semi retired, I have just under 2 years to go, 30 years in this game is more than enough
So I wont be splashing the cash on a WAV

If you had told us you were 63, we would have understood.

Happy retirement when it comes Mr Skippy41.

Don't kid me your retiring at 55 ..... there's 10 more years in you at least ..... 10 more years of driving a nice new Mercedes Vito WAV!!

You know you'll enjoy it ..... 2-3 weeks of using a new Mercedes WAV & you'll be like a kid with a brand new toy at Christmas ..... you'll love it ..... absolutely love it!!!

You know what they say, 'Don't knock it 'til you try it'.

No, I dont think they can be driven on soft sand.
I will be emigrating to Belize and buying a house on the key of Sanpedro
where you only need around £30 a week to live it up :D

Maybe, but his council certainly hasn't had an exemption, because there's nothing to be exempt from, as is the case in England and Wales.

So, Skippy.

You are 53, you spent the last thirty years driving taxi's, and at least the previous 22 as a pongo, so how old were you when you joined the army?
