...and to demonstrate that the document outlining the exceptions to the £100 retest fee is still live, check it out here via the link - it's the second-last link at the bottom of the list, called 'Taxi Testing Manual with fees April 2025':

But the retest charge they're actually levying is as per the list here on page 2 :-s

Testing

Each vehicle will be subjected to testing as per the conditions of the licence. The following fees will apply

    • Random Test (following failure of annual test or Council M.O.T. only) - £30

    • Retest (following on from Annual, Random, Spot checks or substitution) - £100

    • Substitution (test and plate) - £40 Substitution (plate only) - £25 Admin fee - £30

    • Replacement plate - £15

    • Failure to attend a pre arranged test - £10

The Council may carry out spot checks on licensed vehicles at any time.

At least he's taxed for a few months yet :?
