I hear what your saying GMB, I have heard that companies are allowed to map test thier own drivers, not good.
As for slagging of my drivers, I do understand what you say, however, it is so frustrating trying to understand them when they can't speak english.
I get annoyed with them when they keep making the same mistakes over and over, I do the same work when I am on the road and don't get any problems, maybe i'm just lucky

Agreeing with brother Flanagan and his critics twice in one night.

I don't agree with the racist morons who want to deprive people of a living because of their own greedy self interest and that is all it is with scumbags who want to monopolise the trade for themselves and to hell with anyone else, however.

It is clearly not right that drivers cannot read and write properly or speak the language. The travelling public deserve fear better than that and the dangers and problems are there for all to see.

If it is true that there are proprietors in the private hire trade who help drivers through the topographical test with the help of interpreters it is a scandal that has to be stopped.

If this means tightening the testing and taking it away from these elements so be it.

I have to say though of the three firms that I know of who are doing the testing they seem to be operating scrupulously and above board

Getting back to the point of the post.

LA's and the PCO have no power over PH Operators to set fares.

The fare is a matter of contract between the Operator and the Customer.

If I phone a PH company, I should be able to be quoted a price for the journey.

If I know what I should be charged, then why is a taximeter necessary?

The vehicle and driver are agents for the Operator.

The vast majority will only earn proper money with meters, in my most honest opinion.

Why do you need a meter when the fare should be agreed with the operator beforehand?

Do you like breaking contracts? or do you want to make yourselves out to be immediatly available for hire?

Terry you are unbelievably stupid.

I actually operate PHV's, and oooppppp's I've operated them for ohhhh lets see now, errm since you were doing something else for a living. (which seeing as I'm a very youthful 37 is a long time).

I was pointing out a valid reason you shouldnt have taximeters.

I was pointing out (I'm sorry this is a pain in the ar$e) that the contract is between the OPERATOR and the PASSENGER, NOT the PASSENGER and the DRIVER.

But on a positive note... (well two positive notes actually).

1, I won 200 Euro due to my golfing prowess last week

2, I am going to do a ladybird book for taxis (especially for you)

hugs and kisses

wrong as usual once the passenger is in the car the contract is between the driver and the passenger. The proprietor is merely an AGENT just another of our little victorys. So your only 37 good for you enjoy sunshine, relax a little more, enjoy your golf, and your children, and your team.enjoy the CRAIC.

You need to get use of the term allegedly because you consistantly fail to back up your words with anything other than outmoded dogma and rhetoric (which presumably in your case is slightly more stupid than balderick)

We have plently of reality here, to my recollection we had licensed PH at least 25 years before you 'civilised southerners'.
