If the TX4 is that good a vehicle, it should have no problem selling on the open market.

So why do LTI have to rely on the PCO and certain councils' rules to make their money?

Why do LTI go to so much trouble to preserve their monopoly?

I probably should have written a bit more in that last post. It sounds irrelevant. It is my first WAV, and BTW I plated it for Glenrothes, Fife.

It's the first one in the area. Very happy with it.

Really? You are hiding this new tx4 very well in Glenrothes  When can we expect to see this "new" taxi down the rank? Should be easy to spot because we only have 43 public hire plates here. Last WAV on our rank was a new style Scudo some 8 weeks ago

Mr mouse? Mr mouse? Can you come out from behind the skirting and answer please?

There's never been a TX on Glenrothes as far as I know. I visit fairly regularly as I have family there. I've only seen Scudos and the odd Euro-type taxi. Other than that it's all saloons.

I think he's pulling our leg. It's not even as though he said Fife (there are TXs in Kirkcaldy), he distinctly said Glenrothes.

By the way - The taxi drivers in Glenrothes are always great. I've used Murray's and a few others over the years and always been pleased with the service.

I take it you have not read the posts on here regarding the TX range,
and all the problems with them.

I've only ever owned LTI Taxi's.

I've not had any problems.

As Jimbo says Skippy, what PB Taxi's have you owned from LTI, and what problems have you encountered? :-k

I see you've already answered that.

As MrT and others have pointed out, The FX range is a far cry from the Nissan engine that was introduced in 1989. Apart from the issue with the turbo hoses, I can't say i've met a dissapointed driver that owns the new model. I suspect by the time I buy mine (2008?) the minor problems should have been resolved.

I've covered 280K in my TX1, apart from water pump, radiator and some other minor bits and bobs, it's still going strong. (The Hudsons are still going in case anyone wondered)

Competition would always be welcomed in London, so long as the alternative will stand up to non-stop work, door's opening and closing dozen's of times during a shift, and the front suspension is up to the job of supporting my money bag.

:D

And I can't get my head round why you think the OFT should get involved.

It is quite simple, Red Ken insists on LTI cabs only for London to the exclusion of any other make. That in itself is an unfair trading practice, hence why I say the OFT should be involved.

To my mind if it were not for him - LTI would not be anymore, as it would seem that the bulk of their trade has been done through London.

You are, simply put, wrong.

Any manufacturer can build a vehicle to meet the present Conditions of Fitness, as Metrocab did.

Jimbo you are missing the point that you raised concerning "OFT." I am not arguing against the right to build any vehicle, what I am saying is that they "LTI" have a unique/cartel trading privilege signed by "Ken."

This should be looked at by the OFT because as it stands they can charge what they like for the vehicles. As it is, they charge an extortionate price, and that is not right because London taxi drivers cannot purchase any other vehicle.

Oil companies,Supermarkets, Microsoft have all been taken to task over having a monopoly of their respective markets along with price fixing.

You have exactly the same situation with LTI, no competition allowed, so they can and do charge what they like.

So call the OFT and ask them to investigate.
