They just amended the 1976 act to remove the contract exemption so why couldn't they do something with this?

It would appear they didn't feel the need.

And I'm quite happy with the ceremony bit. :D

I think its fairly obvious that they didn't realise it presented a problem.

BUT why is there an exemption at all, why should wedding and funeral cars be exempt.. They are both a commercial vehicle with paid drivers or owner drivers..? and is it not the same risk having an unsafe wedding car on the road as any other hire car. the funeral car is the same only there is no danger to the passenger in the hurse....only other road users.

The funeral exemption covers the family cars, not the hearse which doesn't carry a fare paying passenger. (A corpse is "goods in transit" )

So why is an exemtion needed ,its stright hire & reward..even though its going to a graveyard.as with wedding cars ..anyone can go on Ebay and buy a wreck and can legally the next day be taking brides to there weddings. The excemtions should all be stopped.and a license as with any other hire vehicle be needed.
