I think .............. and this is only my opinion ................ that the 3 scenarios should have 2 added.

The first being the ability for every vehicle working anywhere in the country to be licensed by the same local authority.

The second being the ability of people previously found not to be fit and proper to act as operators of PH vehicles being able to operate the exact same service by solely using HC vehicles, which may or not be licensed in the main area of operation.

I think that both points have been forgotten because of the immotive issue of the HC owner operator using his mobile phone to accept bookings.

Its sad that such an educated and knowkedgable group fail to see the wood for the tree's.

Well the three scenarios that I outlined at the outset are what I see giving rise to the debate, but what I didn't quite do was to put the flesh on the bones as to why they were problematic.

So the two you say should be added are in fact providing some rationale rather than adding to the scenarios, I think?

I think the meeting(s) may have two agendas.

From the taxi/PH side of the tables I think it's a group of lads coming together to see if they can agree on various issues, with a view to those issues then being sent out to the rest of us to see if an agreement and way forward can be agreed.

From the LOs side of the table methinks they are indirectly using the other side to convince the DfT that whatever comes out doesn't need much changing, as the trade is in agreement, and should be swiftly adopted.

Cynical of me yes, but how far from the truth?

It's pretty clear to me that Liverpool having failed to convince the DfT to change private hire legislation in order to stop Delta cars legitimately obtaining private hire bookings from Liverpool have resorted to trying to change that same legislation through the back door. They have enlisted the likes of the NTA who have the same objective in respect of removing the rights of hackney carriage drivers to take private bookings without the need of a private hire operators license, to give their gathering some credence. Naleo on their part are up for any license change that gives them more power over the Taxi driver. Where the NPHA fit into all this I don't know but it’s about time you private hire guys started asking the NPHA what their playing at for allowing these proposals to even see the light of day?

Regards

Is anyone prepared to say who the representatives were at this meeting of minds gathering in Liverpool and where they were from? Captain Cab has kindly informed us that the NTA was represented by its Chairman Norman Deagan of and vice Chairman Paul Brent of Trafford. Anyone else care to offer any input?

Regards

I have been told, all the ussual suspects, were there . Taxi talk had a big contingent, interesting they could only find a few lines in their rag.( Felowship of the ring). A rag that struggles for interesting topics.
I say again, this was not supposed to be for open debate. Or it would have been head lines in taxitalk.
Will T and the captain, be invited to the next meeting . That is if they really were at the last meeting :?: I dout it .
Just shows you, people with Law degrees, still drop bricks. well done T D O AND JD for exposing this . Streetcars .

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since the last National Taxi Association meeting Wayne has been working with other National Taxi Associations and Taxi related unions to bring them together with the view of Working as a partnership, as you will appreciate the time and effort by Wayne to achieve this has been considerable, To actually bring together associations that for years have been at each other's throats deserves applause, I hope Wayne will elaborate on the intentions of the meeting..... and of course this has been done openly with real people and real names,

Yeah....10 / 10 for keeping up

I am sure that the majority of people will be happy to hear that the meeting of minds took place, and the second meeting is scheduled for the near future, Wayne has spent a great deal of time and effort making the meeting take place, at one point it was hanging in the balance, this was simply because a certain Mr Terry wanted to attend, unfortunately his reputation preceded him, people did not want or would not sit round a table with him, an element of trust is needed, The NTA intends to go forward including and not excluding, and certainly not by decrying other associations and unions as is the policy of Terry....

Aye as I was saying....great expose'
